Malaysia has recorded 71 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 10,576. Fortunately, there are no new deaths reported and the death toll remains at 133.
The Ministry of Health has reported 64 new recoveries today and a total of 9,666 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 91.40% while the mortality rate is 1.26%.
At the moment, there are 777 active COVID-19 cases remaining which are currently receiving treatment. 6 patients in ICU and 2 of them require respiratory support.
Out of the 71 new cases reported today, 2 are imported while 69 are transmitted locally. The imported cases include a foreigner arriving from Singapore and a foreigner arriving from Indonesia.
In terms of local cases, Sabah has 63 new cases today which include 47 from the recently identified Bangau-bangau cluster, 10 from Laut cluster and 1 from the Benteng cluster. The remaining 5 cases where detected through various hospital screening.
Meanwhile, there are 4 new cases in Kedah from the Sungai cluster and 2 cases in Selangor which has a recent travel history to Semporna, Sabah.
