During today’s address to the nation, Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin has announced new initiatives to help Malaysians cope with the impact of COVID-19. The government is introducing another round of cash aid under the Bantuan Prihatin Nasional 2.0 for B40 and M40 individuals and households.
The BPN 2.0 has an allocation of RM7 billion which will benefit 10.6 million eligible Malaysians. The government is giving RM1,000 to B40 households and RM500 for single B40 individuals. For M40 groups, they are giving RM600 for households and RM300 for single individuals.
The BPN 2.0 payout will be disbursed in two payments. The first payment will be made at the end of October 2020 and the second payment will be done in January 2021. For those that fall under the B40 household will receive RM700 for the first payment while the remaining RM300 will be disbursed in January next year.
According to the statement, there’s no application necessary for BPN 2.0. The payment will be made automatically to the eligible 10.6 million recipients under the initial BPN that was announced in March 2020.
