Xiaomi Mi 10T series with an all-new Snapdragon 5G chipset will be announced on 30 Sept

Xiaomi has revealed that it’s launching its new Mi 10T series at the end of this month. The latest addition to the Mi 10 series promises to offer 5G at an affordable price.

The Mi 10T series launch is happening on the 30th of September at 8.00pm Malaysian Time. You can catch the live stream on Xiaomi’s social media channels.

The Mi 10T is expected to be an affordable mid-year refresh of its flagship series which is somewhat similar to last year’s Mi 9T and Mi 9T Pro. Based on the recent leaks, the top of the line Mi 10T Pro is expected to run on a Snapdragon 865 processor and it would feature a high 144Hz refresh rate display. On top of that, it is said to come with a huge 5,000mAh battery, which is 500mAh more than the Mi 10 Pro.

In terms of design, the Mi 10T series looks heavily inspired by the Vivo X50 series especially its rear camera bump. Unlike the Mi 9T and the Poco F2 Pro, the new device uses a punch-hole selfie camera. This could be good news for those that don’t like the pop-up selfie camera mechanism.

As teased by Xiaomi earlier this month, the new series will be the first to feature a brand new Snapdragon 7-series 5G mobile platform. Coincidentally, Qualcomm has just announced its new Snapdragon 750G chipset that features a X52 modem that supports both mmWave and sub-6 GHz 5G networks. The new chip is based on a 8nm process similar to the Snapdragon 730G and it uses Kryo 570 CPU cores which are said to provide 20% boost in performance compared to the 730G.

In terms of graphics, it uses Adreno 619 GPU which Qualcomm claims to provide 10% better performance than the Adreno 618 GPU on the 730G. The new chipset also boasts 20% improvement in AI processing with its 5th generation Qualcomm AI Engine.

Overall, the 750G appears to be a cheaper 5G chipset alternative that’s positioned right between the 730G and the Snapdragon 765G. Qualcomm has confirmed that Xiaomi will be the 750G’s launch customer and we reckon that it could make its debut on the standard Mi 10T.

Prior to this, the standard Mi 10T is speculated to run on a Snapdragon 765G and the new chipset could help to keep its pricing low. This could be the most affordable 5G phone with a “flagship” experience. All shall be revealed next week.
