The latest Apple Watch Series 6 which was revealed on Malaysia Day is coming to our market very soon. Celcom has started its teaser of the new Apple Watch but without giving any specific availability dates.
The Apple Watch Series 6 retains the same exterior design as the previous two generations but it’s now powered by a newer dual-core S6 chip that claims to provide 20% better performance than the Series 5. On top of that, it gets a new sensor that can measure blood oxygen level.
For the first time for the Watch, you can also finally get it in (Product)Red which Apple will donate a portion of its revenue to fund HIV and AIDS efforts. Due to the current pandemic, 100% of the proceeds are currently channeled to COVID-19 response efforts until 30th September.
As usual, we expect Celcom to offer the cellular version of the Apple Watch on contract which comes with an eSIM that allows you to receive calls and messages, or even stream Apple Music without carrying an iPhone with you. The NumberShare feature costs RM15/month and it allows you to make unlimited calls via VoLTE and it utilises the data quota from your postpaid plan.
When the Series 5 was introduced, Celcom had offered the NumberShare subscription for free for the first 6 months when you buy the new watch on contract. Similar to last year, expect Celcom to offer device bundles for the Watch where you can probably get it together with a new iPhone or a new pair of AirPods. To use the Apple Watch Series 6, you’ll need to have at least an iPhone 6s or newer.
To recap, below are the official pricing of the Apple Watch Series 6 in Malaysia:

There’s no availability details yet but we reckon that it could be released in Malaysia at the same time as the Apple Watch Series 6. Authorised retailers Switch and Machines have also started teasing the Apple Watch Series 6 and Watch SE on their social pages.
