The Honor Watch GS Pro is an upgraded, military-grade version of the Magic Watch 2

Honor announced a “new” model in its range of smartwatches at the IFA trade show in Berlin recently: the Honor Watch GS Pro. This is supposedly the “tough” model of Honor’s current wearable range, with compliance with 14 MIL-STD-810G tests: basically, U.S. military-grade certifications that measure the durability of a certain device.

These tests are made up of durability checks for temperature, solar radiation, sand/dust, immersion, vibration, shock, humidity, altitude, contamination, and more. Honor also promises that the Watch GS Pro will be able to handle high temperatures (up to 70°C), or temperatures as low as -40°C. Plus, of course, you get 5ATM water resistance rating, so swimming with this shouldn’t be a problem.

Some of the other specs of the Watch GS Pro appear to be borrowed from Honor’s Magic Watch 2—as well as the Huawei Watch GT 2. Basically, you’re looking at the same 1.39″ AMOLED display pushing a 454×454 pixel resolution, and the same Kirin A1 chipset under the hood.

Just like the Magic Watch 2, the Honor Watch GS Pro has some impressive battery figures—in fact, they’re even better. Up to 25 days of battery life is promised on a single charge, with the wearable also offering 47 hours of usage in outdoor GPS performance mode. A full charge should take you less than two hours, too. You’ll also have a built-in microphone and speaker, which you can use to make calls from your wrist. However, there isn’t any support for Google Assistant or Siri or any Huawei equivalent, so you’ll have to live with that.

On the software side of things, the Watch GS Pro runs on LiteOS, which means that it should have most of the same features as other Huawei/Honor wearables (over 100 workout modes). There’s a heart rate monitor (obviously), while oxygen tracking, stress readings, and sleep tracking is supported. Honor also says that a GPS route back feature will help outdoors-men find their way back, along with bad weather alerts.

The Honor Watch GS Pro is available from 7 September 2020 in select markets at a retail price of EUR249.90 (~RM1,227), and three colour options will be available: Charcoal Black, Marl White, and Camo Blue. Meanwhile, Malaysian customers will be able to pick up the Honor Watch GS Pro sometime in October 2020—we’ll update this post with local pricing once we receive official word.
