COVID-19: New cases jump to 62 today, highest spike in over 3 months

Malaysia has recorded 62 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 9,459. This is the highest spike since 4th June 2020. There are no new deaths reported and the death toll remains at 128.

The Ministry of Health has recorded 9 new recoveries today and a total of 9,124 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is 96.5% while the mortality rate is at 1.35%.

The number of active cases has risen to 207 which are currently isolated and receiving treatment. There are 6 patients in ICU and 4 require respiratory support.

Out of the 62 new COVID-19 cases today, 6 are imported while 56 are transmitted locally. The imported cases consist of 4 foreigners and 2 Malaysians.

In terms of local cases, there are 51 cases in Sabah and 50 are from the Benteng LD cluster. Kedah has 4 new cases and a new Sungai cluster has been identified. Meanwhile, Penang has recorded 1 new case.
