ROG Phone 3 Strix Edition available for pre-order in Malaysia tomorrow

The ROG Phone 3 is officially arriving in Malaysia this week and Asus Malaysia is offering a chance to secure a unit early before the official launch. This is for the Strix Edition which is the base model that comes with 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage.

The pre-order will be available on the 3rd of September but there’s no official pricing yet. As a pre-order promo, Asus Malaysia is bundling a free lighting amour case and tempered glass worth RM248.

If you’re interested, you can secure your unit by paying a RM999 deposit on Lazada or Shopee. A discount voucher code will be sent to you before 6pm on the 5th of September.

Once the official price is officially announced at 9pm on the 5th of September, you can make a full payment at 9.30pm onwards. Just use the provided voucher code to offset the RM999 deposit from the full retail price. Deliveries are expected to start from 7th September 2020. All pre-order customers must complete their order before 9am on the 7th of September.

To recap, the ROG Phone 3 features a 6.59″ Full HD+ AMOLED display that pushes a 144Hz refresh rate. The Strix Edition runs on a Snapdragon 865 processor while the higher spec variants run on a higher clocked Snapdragon 865+. The ROG Phone 3 series can be configured with up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

It still retains a front-facing stereo speakers but it lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack. For taking pictures, the back gets a triple-camera setup that consists of a 64MP main camera, 13MP ultra-wide-angle shooter and a 5MP macro camera. Meanwhile, the front gets a 24MP selfie shooter.

Since this is a gaming device, you also get a AirTriggers on the sides and there’s also an RGB ROG logo at the rear. If you do prefer to use a pair of headphones, you can attach the AeroActive Cooler 3 which provides a pass-through USB-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Powering the device is still a large 6,000mAh battery that supports 30W fast charging. There’s no official pricing yet but we are told it is close to the previous ROG Phone II. The launch is happening on the evening of the 5th of September.
