Malaysia has recorded 8 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 9,257. There are no new deaths reported and the death toll remains at 125.
The Ministry of Health has recorded 4 new recoveries today and a total of 8,949 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is currently 96.67% while the mortality rate is at 1.35%.
There are currently 183 active cases remaining which are isolated and receiving treatment. 8 patients are in ICU and half of them require respiratory support.
Out of the 8 cases today, 3 are imported while 5 are transmitted locally. The 3 imported cases include a Malaysian returning from the Netherlands and 2 foreigners arriving from Bangladesh and the Philippines respectively.
In terms of local cases, all 5 are Malaysians reported in Kedah from the Tawar cluster. The Tawar cluster currently has a total of 63 positive cases and 7 of them are in ICU. A total of 2,942 individuals have been tested so far and 198 are still waiting for results.
