The OnePlus Buds will hit Malaysian shelves soon, priced from RM399

OnePlus has just announced the Malaysian availability details for the company’s latest attempt to penetrate the mid-range market: the OnePlus Nord. What’s interesting is that at the top of the range, the company is offering an “infinite joy bundle” that comprises the OnePlus Nord (12GB+256GB) and the OnePlus Buds for a price of RM2,399.

However, you can still purchase the OnePlus Buds on their own, with OnePlus Malaysia announcing local availability and pricing details for its first ever pair of TWS headphones.

Price and availability

The OnePlus Buds are available in three colours for Malaysian users: Black, White, and Nord Blue (if you want to match the Buds with your brand new OnePlus Nord, of course). Pricing has been set at RM399, with the OnePlus Buds to be sold exclusively on OnePlus’ Shopee store. However, do note that only Nord Blue and White will be available at first—OnePlus promises that the Gray option is coming soon.

Specs

The OnePlus Buds is the company’s first TWS headphones, which has certainly piqued the interest of OnePlus fans everywhere. One of the strengths of the Buds is the battery life promised: up to 7 hours of playback time on a single charge, with up to 30 hours of total usage including the charging case.

In fact, OnePlus also says that a 10-minute charge in the case will give you enough juice for two hours of playback. With USB-C charging, the numbers are even more impressive: up to 10 hours of playback after 10 minutes of charging, and a full charge within 80 minutes. Do note, however, that wireless charging isn’t supported by the OnePlus Buds.

Meanwhile, they also feature environmental noise cancellation to avoid unwanted background noise—do note that this isn’t the same as Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) tech. Triple microphones are used to filter out background noise during calls, although it isn’t clear if this will also work during music playback (like ANC).

Regardless, you get a 13.4mm dynamic driver, as well as support for Dolby Atmos and Dirac Audio Tuner. It’s important to note that Dolby Atmos only works when the OnePlus BUds are paired to a OnePlus 7, 7 Pro, 7T, 7T Pro, 8, and 8 Pro. Direct Tuner, on the other hand, has exclusive support on the OnePlus Nord.

From the outside, the OnePlus Buds also appear to take up a AirPods-like design, although that could be said about plenty of recent TWS releases from rival companies. Just like the AirPods Pro, you get IPX4 ingress protection—which means that it should be sweat/splash resistant, but you won’t be able to take them swimming.

So, what do you think? OnePlus certainly has its work cut out, with the TWS headphone market becoming increasingly saturated in recent times. However, it would be unfair to pass judgement on the OnePlus Buds until we get our hands on a pair, so do check back on SoyaCincau.com for the full coverage and latest developments.
