This is what the Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition could look like

Samsung is expected to release a new budget Galaxy S20 device very soon to compete the base model iPhone 12. Instead of having a “Lite” model like the Galaxy S10 Lite the new device is expected to be called the Galaxy S20 FE. The FE stands for Fan Edition which was previously used for the fixed Galaxy Note 7 that shipped with safer batteries.

Ahead of the announcement, serial leakster @OnLeaks has shared high resolution renders for the Galaxy S20 FE through Pricebaba and it will also support 5G. Since this is a cheaper model, the device will come with a flat display and it’s expected to measure between 6.4 to 6.5 inches. If this is true, the S20 FE sits between the S20 (6.2″) and S20+ (6.7″) in terms of size but it is likely to push a lower Full HD+ resolution.

In terms of hardware, it is believed to be running on a Snapdragon 865 chipset with 6GB of RAM as spotted on Geekbench. However, it seems that Samsung is also working on a Exynos 990 version that comes with 8GB of RAM. As a comparison, the current Galaxy S10 Lite is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 unit and which is also offered for the Malaysian market.

As shown in the renders, the device lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack and it comes with a curved back panel. Another leakster, Ice Universe, had also speculated that the S20 Fan Edition will push a 120Hz refresh rate and interestingly would come with IP68 dust and water resistance.

In the camera department, the new FE would feature a 12MP IMX555 main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle shooter and a 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. For selfies, the device is said to come with a 32MP front camera that’s housed in a smaller 3.3mm punch-hole in the screen.

Powering the S20 FE is a 4,500mAh battery which is the same capacity as the current S10 Lite. According to a South Korea publication, the new budget S20 is expected to launch in October with a KRW 900,000 (about RM3,180) price tag. It is also speculated that Samsung could also introduce an LTE version that’s more affordable.
