Malaysia has reported 12 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 9,212. There are no new deaths reported for 17 days straight and the death toll remains at 125.
According to the Ministry of Health, there are 17 new recoveries and a total of 8,876 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is 96.35% while the mortality rate is 1.36%.
There are currently 211 active cases remaining which are currently isolated and receiving treatment. 8 patients are currently in ICU while 2 require respiratory support.
Out of the 12 new cases today, 2 are imported while 10 are transmitted locally. The imported cases are foreigners arriving from Syria and the Philippines.
In terms of local transmissions, there are 6 cases in Kedah (4 from Tawar cluster and 2 from Sala cluster) and 3 cases in Penang from the Tawar cluster. There’s also 1 new case in Selangor. All local cases reported today are Malaysians.
The Tawar cluster currently has a total of 46 positive cases while the Sala cluster has accumulated a total of 6 cases. There are no new cases reported from the Sivagangga cluster.
Malaysia currently has no red zones as of 12pm today. The Kulim district has the most number of cases at 21, followed by 14 cases at Kuala Muda and 13 at Baling. The states of Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and Sarawak are fully green.
