Malaysia has recorded 26 new cases today which brings the total number of COVID-19 cases to 9,175. Fortunately there are no new deaths reported and the death toll remains at 125.
The Ministry of Health has reported 3 recoveries and a total of 8,831 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is currently 96.3% while the mortality rate is 1.36%.
There are currently 219 active cases remaining which are isolated and receiving treatment. 6 are in ICU while 1 require respiratory support.
Out of the 26 new COVID-19 cases today, 3 are imported while 23 are transmitted locally. The imported cases consists of Malaysians returning from Austria and Vietnam, and a foreigner arriving from the United States.
In terms of local transmission, there are 12 new Tawar cluster cases which include 10 cases in Kedah and 2 in Penang. Kedah also reported one new case from the Muda cluster and 3 new cases from a newly identified Sala cluster.
There are also 3 new cases in Kuala Lumpur (2 Malaysians and 1 foreigner) and one case each in Perlis and Johor involving Malaysians. Negeri Sembilan has also reported two cases involving foreigners.
