OnePlus Nord officially goes on sale in Malaysia on 22 August?

The highly anticipated OnePlus Nord is officially coming to Malaysia very soon. It is the company’s most affordable 5G smartphone and you could get it as early as the end of next week.

Official availability

Retailers Mobile2Go and DirectD have just indicated that the Nord will be available on the 22nd of August 2020, which is next Saturday. For our market, we will be getting two versions – 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.

As hinted earlier by Gamers Hideout, the base 8GB RAM +128GB Nord is expected to be priced around RM1,799 while the higher spec version with 12GB RAM + 256GB storage will be priced slightly above RM2,000.

Both models were recently listed on the new official OnePlus Store on Shopee but with a placeholder price of RM9,999. Both variants will come in two colours – Grey Onyx and Blue Marble.

Hardware Specs

The OnePlus Nord is a premium mid-range smartphone that promises to aims to offer flagship experiences at a lower price point. It gets a 6.44″ AMOLED display that pushes a Full HD+ resolution and has a 90Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor with LPDDR4X RAM and non-expandable UFS 2.1 storage.

For taking pictures, the screen gets a wide-punch-hole to house a 32MP main selfie camera and a secondary 8MP ultra-wide-angle shooter. The rear gets a quad-camera array that features a 48MP f/1.75 main camera (Sony IMX586) with OIS, an 8MP f/2.25 ultra-wide-angle camera, a 5MP f/2.4 depth sensor and a 2MP f/2.4 macro shooter.

The Nord supports 5GHz 802.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth 5.1, dual-frequency GPS and it is also NFC enabled. It also supports 5G including Malaysia’s sub-6 GHz bands. Powering the device is a 4,115mAh battery that supports OnePlus’ 30W Warp Charge 30T via USB-C.
