It has been 10 years since Xiaomi launched its first smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi 1. To mark this momentous occasion, the Chinese smartphone maker said over its official Weibo account that it will be introducing a commemorative flagship device called the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro Plus on 11 August.
Here is the post on Weibo.
Translated, the post by Xiaomi said the new flagship is the “Extreme Commemorative Edition” of the Xiaomi Mi 10, that is expected to come equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ chipset. This would make it an upgrade over the Mi 10 Pro that was announced in February this year and brought into Malaysia in April.
This isn’t the first time Xiaomi has upgraded its flagship smartphone a few months after launching its first model. Last year, Xiaomi introduced a Pro version of the Mi 9 that came with the more powerful Snapdragon 855+ chipset.
If Xiaomi takes the same approach as it did last year, it would be safe to say that the improved Mi 10 Pro would retain many of the same features such as a 6.67” FHD+ display, a 108MP main camera and 5G connectivity and a 4500mAh battery with support for 50W fast charging. Some rumours suggest that Xiaomi may increase the charging speed to 55W.
As a point of reference, the price for the Xiaomi Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro in Malaysia is as follows:
Mi 10
8GB RAM + 128GB storage – RM2,799
8GB RAM + 256GB storage – RM2,999
Mi 10 Pro
8GB RAM + 256GB storage – RM3,899
