Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has announced that the latest EMUI 10.1 update that is based on Android 10 will be coming to its smartphones. This includes models such as the Honor View 20, Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro. The latest update is said to come with a host of improvements that include features like Huawei MeeTime, Smart Multi-Window and Mobile Office.
It should be noted that all three of these models were the last few Honor flagship smartphones that came with Google Mobile Services (GMS) and access to the Google Play Store before the US imposed a trade ban back in May 2019.
That being said Honor said it will also roll out the EMUI 10.1 update to the Honor 9X Pro, which runs on Huawei Mobile Services and its App Gallery, by September 2020 via HOTA (Huawei Over The Air).
As we mentioned earlier, one of the new features coming to Honor smartphones is Huawei MeeTime, a video calling app, that is claimed to connect and perform high-quality video calls even in low-light or poor network conditions.
Apart from making calls with your loved ones, MeeTime also lets you share your phone screen with a caller, making it easier to help demonstrate how to use an app. In addition, it comes with an AI-Make Up feature that is said to soften your skin tone for times when you need to look good in front of the camera.
As we use our smartphones to get more things done, multi-tasking has become an increasingly important feature. While the previous version of EMUI has this feature, the latest version makes it easier than ever by allowing users to slide-in from either side of the screen to access the app dock.
From here, an app can be dragged across the screen to initiate Multi-Window. Once activated users are able to interact with the two opened apps by dragging and dropping images, text and even files from one app to another.
If you don’t want to distract from whatever task you are currently doing, there is EMUI 10.1’s Floating Windows feature that allows you to perform basic tasks like responding to a text messages without exiting the active app that is on screen.
Honor added that the new update will allow users to take advantage of multi-screen collaboration function that allows Honor smartphones with NFC support to link with a Huawei laptop. By doing so users are will be able to control their phone from their laptop as well as open and edit files on your phone and transfer them to the laptop. Apart from that users would also be able to transfer files and record the screen with just a tap.
Besides that, the new update is also said to bring some performance improvements to affected phone models. Honor said this includes its Deterministic Latency Engine that it claims would reduce the system response time by 20.8% and the average latency fluctuation by 10.5%.
If you are still interested in picking up the Honor 20 Pro with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, it is currently being sold online for as low as RM1,449.
