Vivo X50 and X50 Pro Malaysia: Everything you need to know

Vivo has officially announced the X50 series in Malaysia which comes in two models – the X50 and the X50 Pro. Both support 5G and the higher-spec option comes with a gimbal-like stability system for steadier image and video capture.

Pricing and availability

Below is the official pricing of the X50 series in Malaysia:

X50 (8GB RAM + 128GB storage) – RM2,399
X50 Pro (8GB RAM + 256GB storage) – RM3,199

The X50 comes in either Frost Blue or Glaze Black, while the Pro version is only available in Alpha Grey. Pre-orders are now open and the devices will be available on the 25th of July 2020.

As a pre-order promo, X50 and X50 Pro buyers will enjoy 1-year extended warranty plus 1-year screen crack protection. Vivo is also bundling an air purifier worth RM300. For those that pick up the X50 Pro are able to get the Vivo TWS Neo earbuds (worth RM359) for only RM99 as part of its Purchase-with-Purchase Promo.

Vivo X50

The Vivo X50 is said to be the thinnest 5G smartphone at just 7.55mm. It comes with a 6.56″ 90Hz AMOLED display that pushes a Full HD+ (2376×1080 pixels) resolution. The screen has a punch-hole that houses a 32MP selfie camera. Under the hood, it runs on a Snapdragon 765G processor with 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage.

For taking pictures, it gets a 48MP f/1.6 main camera, a 13MP portrait shooter with 2X optical zoom, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 5MP macro shooter. Powering the X50 is a 4,200mAh battery that supports 33W fast-charge via USB-C.

Vivo X50 Pro

The X50 Pro is the higher spec model among the two. The device also gets a 6.56″ 90Hz Full HD+ AMOLED display but it’s curved at both edges. The Pro model also runs on a Snapdragon 765G processor with 8GB of RAM but storage is doubled at 256GB.

In the camera department, it gets a more sophisticated quad-camera setup. The main highlight is its 48MP main camera that features a gimbal-like stabilisation system. It also gets a 13MP portrait camera with 2x optical zoom, an 8MP periscope telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom and also an 8MP ultra-wide-angle shooter.

For selfies, it also has a 32MP selfie camera that sits on a punch-hole in the display. The battery on the Pro is slightly bigger at 4,315mAh and it also supports 33W fast charging via USB-C.

At the moment, the X50 Pro is the highest available option in Malaysia. In China, there’s also the Vivo X50 Pro+ that runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor but it isn’t released in our local market.
