Here are the top 3 TWS brands in Southeast Asia according to Canalys

The latest data from market analyst firm Canalys suggests that Chinese device maker Xiaomi was among the top three true wireless stereo (TWS) vendors in Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand.

The report from Canalys stated that shipments of true wireless stereo (TWS) devices have grown 61% year-on-year with 16 million units shipped in Q1 2020. This comes as Southeast Asian countries are quickly becoming prime targets for smartphone vendors as TWS growth has outpaced other categories in the first quarter of 2020.

Canalys analyst Matthew Xie found that the top three vendors Apple, Samsung and Xiaomi each offered products in distinct price bands, from entry-level to high-end.

In Malaysia, Xiaomi holds 21.3% of the overall market share of TWS devices. Apple comes in first holding 27.6% of the market while Samsung comes in second at 21.8%. Xiaomi is also the top TWS vendor in the Philippines and Indonesia, commanding 36.4% and 44.2% in those markets respectively.

Last year Xiaomi introduced the Redmi Airdots TWS that costs less than RM80, making them one of the most affordable wireless earbuds on the market. With more new smartphone models ditching the 3.5mm audio jack, the Redmi Airdots are an easy choice for consumer looking for their first wireless earbuds.

In a press release, Xiaomi said it constantly strives to provide the best technology products and services that are affordably priced to its users. The company is banking on its recently announced Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 Basic will help it gain market share across the different markets.

Xiaomi’s new EUR 39.99 ( about RM194.65) TWS are not yet available in Southeast Asia but they boast a number of impressive features. This includes 20 hours of battery life, “environmental noise cancellation”, automatic in-ear detection and a large 14.2mm dynamic driver.
