Or to be specific, the Henry Cavill version of Superman. Cavill has just shared a video that details the entire process—mistakes and all—of him building his own gaming rig, and he certainly knows what his fans want. Sporting a tank top, and building his PC to the tune of Barry White’s sultry “You’re The First, The Last, My Everything”, the five-minute-long video captures everything that most female (and some male) fans want: muscles, a flashy smile, and some good ol’ PC components.
Putting that aside for a second, Cavill has said in the past that he has always had a deep love for gaming—he once told GQ that he enjoys gaming for “ridiculous amounts of hours” as an escape. The Superman and The Witcher star warned users: “This kind of material isn’t for everyone… viewer discretion is advised. You may see a lot of parts that you haven’t seen before.”
It all appears to go smoothly enough, and Superman even finds the time to warn viewers (and other aspiring PC builders) to be gentle when installing the Ryzen CPU, as the “little gold pins” are sensitive and have to fit just right. After he completes his build, everything works well—besides the CPU temperature gauge, which happens to be upside down.
He doesn’t reveal the exact components he’s using for the build, but my colleague over at SoyaCincau BM, Hanif, has a keen eye, and this is probably the spec list for Cavill’s setup:
The most expensive component he appears to be using is the GPU: the ROG Strix GeForce 2080 Ti OC which has 11GB of GDDR6 VRAM. You can pick one up in Malaysia for around RM6,500—although that shouldn’t be too much for a Hollywood A-lister to afford, I’m guessing. Keeping in line with the current trend, Cavill has also gone with an AMD CPU: the Ryzen 3900X.
And no, there doesn’t appear to be any (intentional) product placement here. The Facebook version of the video has a “Logi” watermark on it, but I’m guessing that is more to do with the recording software used, rather than any sort of advertising. What do you think?
