Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) has launched the new C 200 AMG Line in Malaysia. The locally-assembled C 200 AMG Line will boast several enhancements including a dynamic engine, sports suspension, digital infotainment system and Mercedes me connect.
The new C 200 AMG Line is available now and has a recommended retail price of RM251,587.39 (on-the-road without insurance). The price mentioned also takes into consideration the sales tax relief. The new model replaces the C 200 Avantgarde model, which cost RM250,283.41 after the sales tax relief. It was previously priced at RM259,888 when it first launched.
Interested parties can enjoy EaseProtect Financing which starts from RM2,988 per month and comes with Comprehensive Motor Insurance along with Tyre & Rim Insurance for the first year of ownership. The monthly instalment is calculated based on 5 years tenure and a down payment of approximately 20%.
The new model will replace the previous model which used a 1.5 litre EQ Boost hybrid engine. Now it comes with a new 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that outputs 204 hp and 300 Nm of torque. That’s a gain of 20 hp and 20 Nm in comparison.
The 9G-Tronic automatic gearbox sends drive to the rear wheels. According to Paultan, the vehicle is able to perform the century sprint in just 7.1 seconds (compared to the older 1.5L’s 7.7 seconds) and has a top speed of 250km/h (versus 239km/h on the hybrid). However, the combined fuel consumption of the new model is between 6.3 to 5.9 litres per 100km, which is roughly the same as the hybrid.
Performance aside, the C 200 AMG Line benefits from some significant changes to its interior and exterior. The AMG Line exterior shows the car’s sporty and expressive character. You get a diamond radiator grille with chrome pins, AMG-specific front apron and rear bumpers as well as 18-inch AMG five-spoke light-alloy wheels to enhance its sporty appearance.
Inside the cabin, it comes with numerous highlights of the AMG Line including Artico leather upholstery, galvanised steering wheel, gearshift paddles and AMG sports pedals. On the dashboard, you get a fully-digital 12.3” LCD screen that offers three graphical themes. You also get a 10.25” centre infotainment display.
In terms of safety, the new C 200 comes with Blind Spot Assist that acts an extra set of eyes to alerts drivers if an oncoming vehicle is in their blind spot. It operates from a speed of 30km/h and up to the vehicle’s maximum speed.
Apart from that, you get Active Brake Assist that minimises the danger of a rear-end collision. It also comes with Mercedes-Benz’ Pre-Safe system that senses when an unavoidable collision and works to prepare passengers by tightening the front seat belts, close opened windows and adjust head restraints.
Another new addition to the C 200 AMG Line is Mercedes me connect that allows owners to check on the status of their car remotely via an app for iOS or Android. To enjoy the service, users need to register and set up their personal Mercedes me account at a website or via the app. An authorised Mercedes-Benz dealer will then pair the Mercedes me account to the vehicle.
Besides the above-mentioned features, Mercedes me can also be used to unlock the car or start the engine remotely. Other features include an emergency call system, predictive navigation, parked vehicle locator.
