Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series expected to be unveiled on 5 August

After Samsung accidentally leaked its upcoming Galaxy Note 20, it is clear that the upcoming flagship smartphone with an S Pen should be launching soon. According to serial leakster Ice Universe, the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event is happening on the 5th of August 2020.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise since the Galaxy Note series is usually launched in August. The Galaxy Note 10 was unveiled on the 7th of August 2019 while the Galaxy Note 9 was announced on the 9th of August 2018.

A month ago, Jon Prosser of Front Page Tech had also tweeted that the upcoming Unpacked event is happening on 5th of August and the devices will be available starting from 20th August. Since Malaysia is among the first wave countries, expect Samsung Malaysia to offer pre-order for the Galaxy Note 20 series shortly after the global launch event. Like most events happening during the new normal, the next Unpacked event is expected to streamed live.

Apart from the Note 20 series, the brand might also unveil a 5G version of the Galaxy Z Flip and a possible new Galaxy Fold 2. In addition, we also expect a new Galaxy Watch 3 to be announced as well.

Similar to last year, the Korean smartphone maker will be launching two Galaxy Note 20 models and the top of the line model is said to be called the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. As spotted from last week’s leak, the new device won’t have any radical design change except for the huge camera bump that houses a triple-camera setup.

The Note 20 will feature a 120Hz display and possibly a new 50MP camera. Samsung’s new ISOCELL GN1 sensor boasts better auto-focusing with 100 million phase-detection auto-focus (PDAF) and greater low light sensitivity with a large effective pixel size of 2.4-microns when four nearby pixels are combined.
