OnePlus‘ upcoming mid-range phone—now confirmed to be called the OnePlus Nord—has been generating a fair bit of excitement. It’s interesting to see how the Chinese company has ramped up the hype surrounding the upcoming device, and little tidbits of information have been slowly revealed as we approach a full release.

Without revealing too much, the OnePlus Nord quietly opened for pre-orders, and in a blink of an eye, the first batch of pre-orders were sold out. The company’s co-founder, Carl Pei, revealed via the “New Beginnings” documentary that the latest smartphone from OnePlus will be priced at “below USD500 (~RM2,143), although an exact price wasn’t given.

In line with the (upper) mid-range pricing of the OnePlus Nord, we’ll also be seeing a Snapdragon 765G which will also offer 5G connectivity, as reported by Techradar. However, we don’t know much about the other specs of the phone—or even what it will look like. Pei reportedly said that the Nord will have a “great camera”, as well as the same smooth experience that OnePlus users are accustomed to.

Sounds good, doesn’t it? Unfortunately, you’ll have to wait till the 8th of July for the next batch of pre-orders to kick in.

Limited pre-orders available

While the first batch of pre-orders have been sold out (really quickly, too), the next pre-order will open at 4pm (MYT) on the 8th of July 2020. Following that batch, there will also be a 24-hour pre-order that opens on the 15th of July 2020 at 4pm. To pre-order the device, you’ll need to drop a EUR20 (~RM96.55) payment (or GBP20 for UK markets) which will land you some OnePlus exclusive merchandise.

This payment will then be rebated back to pre-order customers via a OnePlus account voucher, which will then be used to complete the order. OnePlus is also promising a “surprise gift” for pre-order customers, although we don’t know what that is just yet.

While official availability for Malaysia hasn’t been confirmed yet, the fact that the company has set up a OnePlus Nord Malaysia Instagram page seems to indicate that we’ll be seeing a local release sooner rather than later. For now, pre-orders are only available in the following markets:

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Germany, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Croatia, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Latvia, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom.

Other rumoured specs include a 6.55″ display with a 90Hz refresh rate, along with the now-confirmed Snapdragon 765G. To stay updated on the latest pre-orders, you can click here to subscribe to notification updates, or you can click here for the OnePlus Nord Malaysian Instagram page.
