Redmi 9A and Redmi 9C Malaysia: Everything you need to know

Xiaomi Malaysia has revealed two new affordable smartphones – the Redmi 9A and the Redmi 9C. These are the latest additions to the Redmi 9 series and it starts from as low as RM359.

Below is the official pricing for the Xiaomi Redmi 9 series in Malaysia:

Redmi 9A 2GB RAM + 32GB storage – RM359
Redmi 9C 2GB RAM + 32GB storage – RM429
Redmi 9 3GB RAM + 32GB storage – RM499
Redmi 9 4GB RAM + 64GB storage – RM599

The Redmi 9A will be available starting 7th of July on Lazada and Shopee, and you can get it for as low as RM319 during the flash sale. The device will also be available at all authorised Mi Stores in Malaysia from 14th July 2020. Meanwhile, the Redmi 9C will be available towards the end of July 2020.

Redmi 9A

The Redmi 9A is a new budget offering that comes with a 6.53″ HD+ display (1600×720 pixels) and it runs on a 2.0GHz MediaTek Helio G25 processor. For Malaysia, we are getting a single variant that comes with 2GB LPDDR4x RAM and 32GB of eMMC 5.1 storage which is expandable via microSD.

For imaging, it gets a single 13MP f/2.2 main camera while the front comes with a 5MP f/2.2 selfie shooter that supports Face Unlock. Powering the device is a 5,000mAh battery and it charges via a microUSB port. A 10W charger is included in the box. The device is available in 3 colours – Granite Gray, Peacock Green and Sky Blue.

Redmi 9C

Meanwhile, the Redmi 9C is a slightly better version of the Redmi 9A. Although it shares a similar 6.53″ HD+ dot drop display it gets a better MediaTek Helio G35 that’s clocked at 2.3GHz. Similar to the 9A, it also gets 2GB LPDDR4x RAM and 32GB of eMMC 5.1 storage which is also expandable via a microSD card.

In the camera department, the 9C gets a triple-camera setup that consists of a 13MP f/2.2 main camera, 2MP f/2.4 macro shooter and a 2MP f/2.4 depth sensor.

In front, it also gets a 5MP selfie shooter that’s housed on the tiny notch. Unlike the 9A, the Redmi 9C comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and it is also powered by a 5,000mAh battery. It uses a microUSB port and it comes with a 10W charger out of the box. The Redmi 9C is available in 3 colours – Midnight Gray, Sunrise Orange and Twilight Blue.

It is worth mentioning that Realme C11 is said to be the world’s first to launch a smartphone powered by the MediaTek Helio G35 chip and it’s launching today at 11pm. However, the Redmi 9C will only be released much later towards the end of next month.
