Asus has introduced two new additions to its ultraportable line of notebooks with the VivoBook S14 (S433) and VivoBook S15 (S533). The pair of ultraportable 14” and 15” laptops are compact notebooks that are ideal for busy mobile workers. The S14, for instance weighs only 1.4kg and is 1.59cm thin.
Below is the official pricing for the VivoBook S14 (S433) and VivoBook S15 (S533) :
VivoBook S14 – Core i7, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD – RM3,699
VivoBook S15 – Core i5, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD – RM3,199
The new VivoBooks will be sold via Asus’ online stores on Lazada and Shopee as well as their physical stores.
The first 30 customers to buy the VivoBook S15 will enjoy a RM100 discount at Asus online stores on Lazada and Shopee when they apply the voucher code ‘ASUSV100’. The promo is only valid from 12 pm until 11.59 pm on 30 June 2020, it is on a first-come-first serve basis only.
You can also get rewarded after picking up your VivoBook laptop. Just write a review on Lazada and Shopee and you will receive a Grab Food Voucher worth RM40. You will also be in the running to win special Bluetooth speakers, though Asus did not specify the model.
Asus’ line of VivoBooks are well known for their slim and lightweight design and the new S14 and S15 are no different. The S14 weighs only 1.4kg and has a slim 1.59cm profile while the S15 weighs heavier at 1.8kg but manages to retain a relatively slim 1.61cm profile.
The Full HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixel resolution) IPS displays benefit from Asus’ thin-bezel Nano Edge that maximises the S14’s 14” and S15’s 15.6” displays giving them a 86% screen-to-body ratio. Asus said this allows the displays to offer more screen real estate with a 178-degree viewing angle while maintaining a more compact footprint.
The new S14 and S15 stand out in a variety of eye-catching colours: red, green, silver and black. They also boast all-metal chassis that make them not just lightweight but sturdy too. They boast diamond-cut edges and metallic textured finishes that Asus claims to give the laptops a more svelte appearance and makes it easier to open the lid.
Internally, the S14 comes equipped with an Intel Core i7-10510U processor with 8GB of DDR4 RAM. The S15 differs slightly as it is configured with an Intel Core i5-10210U processor and is paired with 8GB of DDR4 RAM.
You also get Microsoft Windows 10 Home edition installed in the laptops. Storage-wise, both laptops come with 512GB NVMe PCIe Solid State Drive with 32GB Intel Optane Memory.
The two ultraportable laptops also come with integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 and Nvidia GeForce MX250 discrete GPUs. They also benefit from Intel Wi-Fi 6 connectivity that is said to deliver faster networking speeds that are up to 3X faster than the old Wi-Fi 5 standard. It is also claimed to have 4x the network capacity and 75% lower latency to reduce large 4K UHD video transfer times by up to 70%.
When it is time to crunch some numbers users can rely on its light up NumerPad underneath the touchpad. By tapping on the touchpad icon on the upper right corner, it turns the touchpad into a LED-illuminated numeric pad.
In terms of ports, you get a USB-A 3.1 port and a USB-C 3.1 port that offers quicker data transfer speed. There are also two more USB 2.0 ports available to connect your other devices. There is also an HDMI 1.4 port along with an audio jack combo and micro SD card reader.
The two VivoBooks come equipped with 50Wh batteries that are also said to support fast charging. Asus claims the batteries can charge from 0% up to 60% in just 49 minutes.
