You can now use GrabPay at more places including McD, KFC and A&W

With the growing usage of cashless payments especially during the current pandemic, Grab has announced that its GrabPay eWallet is now accepted at more merchant partners. This includes various household brands from essential categories including groceries, pharmacies, food, electronics and hardware across Malaysia.

GrabPay users can pay using their eWallet at a variety of chained outlets such as MyNews, Tesco, Guardian, Watsons, KFC, McDonald’s, Mr DIY, Senheng and more.

Priyanka Madan, the Head of GrabPay Malaysia said “The expansion of GrabPay’s merchant base is part of Grab’s on-going commitment to create awareness about the benefits of digital payments and nurturing the cashless adoption in Malaysia. The expansion of GrabPay’s partner base is also timely with the government’s recent PENJANA announcement to encourage Malaysians to spend as a means to help revive the economy post the impact of the pandemic and movement control period.”

She added, “As the economy re-opens, we want to ensure that Malaysians can transact cashless everywhere, and GrabPay can now be Malaysians primary choice of payment for safer and better value.”

Almost 50% of GrabPay users remain active after eTunai Rakyat

After GrabPay was selected as a supported platform to support the government’s initiative to adopt cashless transactions, Grab claims that almost 50% of their claimants have remained active. The recent pandemic has also helped to grow its new user base as well as merchants, which is a clear sign that both parties are receptive to cashless payment methods.

Apart from making cashless transactions more accessible, Grab says its ecosystem has helped its users to save up to RM5.5 million by just using GrabPay to pay for their everyday needs such as transport, shopping and deliveries for their food and groceries. Grab added that they will continue to provide more opportunities for its users to save more through its GrabPay price promotions.

GrabPay to introduce new features soon

To get more people to go cashless, GrabPay will be introducing more safety features and enhancements. This would include new features to help manage user spending and to provide them with real-time information of the latest deals near them anywhere in Malaysia. Grab also has plans to allow users to use their reward points to pay for online shopping.
