Asus’ new portable 14” ZenScreen monitor weighs just 590g and it uses USB-C

Asus has introduced its new 14” ZenScreen MB14AC portable monitor that is ideal for the busy professional on the go. It boasts a slim and stylish ultra-portable design with 9mm profile and weighs just 590g.

You get a Full HD (1920×1080 pixels) anti-glare IPS panel, with a 60Hz refresh rate, that offers attractive colour reproduction and contrast.  To help protect your eyes, the monitor comes with Asus blue light filter and Asus flicker-free technology.

It has a peak brightness of 250 cd/㎡ and 700:1 contrast ratio, which isn’t very bright or contrasting but it should work just fine for processing word documents and spreadsheets. According to the spec-sheet, it has a 5ms response time and rated power consumption of less than 7W.

Targeted towards productivity nerds who need a second screen for their laptops, the Asus ZenScreen MB14AC uses a hybrid signal solution that offers support for both USB-C and USB-A connections. This opens it up for use with a wide variety of laptops and smartphones.

The USB-C connection works for both power and video transmission from the host device making it simple and easy to set up. This frees you up from having to carry an extra cable and a powerbank to power the monitor.

With the DisplayWidget software installed on your Windows laptop, the MB14AC can automatically sense its orientation, allowing you to switch between landscape and portrait modes at will. In case you were wondering, the automatic orientation feature only works on Windows computers. Sorry Mac users.

You also get a new foldable smart case that protects the MB14AC while it is being transported. It also doubles up as a stand to prop the monitor up in either portrait or landscape orientation.

Asus has not revealed the pricing and availability of the new ZenScreen monitor. For more information go to Asus’ website.
