COVID-19: Malaysia continues to record 1 new local case, 5 more cases are imported

Malaysia continues to record another single-digit number with 6 new COVID-19 cases reported today. This brings the total number of cases to 8,606. There are no new deaths reported for 12 straight days and the death toll remains at 121.

The Ministry of Health has recorded 23 new recoveries and a total of 8,294 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is currently 96.37% while the mortality rate is at 1.41%.

COVID-19 Malaysia Latest status

There are currently 191 active cases remaining which are isolated and receiving treatment. 2 patients are in ICU and there are no cases that require respiratory support. This marks the first time the number of active cases has dropped below 200 during the MCO.

From the 6 new cases today, there are 5 imported cases which consist of 4 Malaysians – 2 returning from Singapore, 1 from Thailand and 1 from the United Kingdom. The remaining import case is a foreigner from Russia. The only local case is a Malaysian in Kuala Lumpur.

There are no new cases from the current active clusters. The Ministry of Health has announced the end of the Madrasah Sungai Salan cluster which had recorded a total of 85 cases. A total of 46 clusters have ended so far.
