This international travel adapter can charge a MacBook Pro 13 at full speed

For frequent travellers, you would usually need to bring a couple of chargers to recharge the devices you have. Australian-based Chargeasap has introduced the G6, a nifty product that crams a 61W GaN charger into a portable international adapter. This could possibly replace every charger and adapter that you’ll ever need including your laptop charger.

At first glance, it looks like a typical international adapter that works with various input and output plugs including European, Australian, UK and US standards. At the top of the G6, it comes with 2 USB-A ports that push a maximum of 12W (5V 2.4A). The biggest highlight is its USB-C port which is capable of pushing an impressive 61W output with USB Power Delivery 3.0 (PPS) standard.

Chargeasap claims that you can charge a MacBook Pro 13 at full speed. It also supports fast charging for the latest iPhone models if you use a USB-C to lightning cable. Do note that the maximum USB total output is 61W.

For the regular power socket itself, it has a maximum load of 8A and a maximum power rating of 2000W. According to Chargeasap, this is more versatile than generic travel adapters as you can use it for high-powered appliances such as irons, hairdryers and toasters.

Another interesting feature is its auto-resetting fuse. In the event of an overload, you won’t need to replace any fuse and you can easily reconnect a minute later. For greater peace of mind, the G6 is covered by a 3-year warranty. According to Chargeasap, the G6 has undergone rigorous industrial tests to ensure that it meets international certification standards. It also comes with safety layers for overvoltage, overcurrent, overcharge, under-voltage, short circuit and temperature protection.

The Chargeasap G6 is currently available on Indiegogo and it has already exceeded its RM21,395 goal by 1492%. Available in either black or white, the G6 is officially priced at USD 79 (about RM338). At the time of writing, you can still get the G6 Super Early Bird 50% discount offer at USD 39 or RM167. According to the Indiegogo listing, the 61W GaN Travel Adapter is expected to ship in September 2020.
