Huawei MatePad Pro 5G: Malaysia’s first 5G tablet is available on 26 June

The Huawei MatePad Pro 5G is coming to Malaysia next week and this is Malaysia’s first tablet that supports 5G connectivity. The previous MatePad Pro that was announced locally in April is the WiFi-only version.

The Huawei MatePad Pro 5G is officially priced at RM3,299 in Malaysia and it will go on sale beginning from the 26th June 2020. The device is equipped with 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage. As a comparison, the WiFi-only version which also comes with the same amount of RAM and storage is priced at RM2,399.

Similar to the Mate 30 Pro 5G, the 5G tablet features a Vegan Leather back and it is only available in Forest Green. As an introductory offer, Huawei Malaysia is offering additional free gifts which include 3-months Huawei Video subscription and 12 months 50GB Huawei Cloud Storage.

To complete the MatePad Pro experience, they are offering a MatePad Pro Keyboard bundle that costs an extra RM499. The Smart Magnetic Keyboard also comes with a free Huawei M-Pencil stylus worth RM299 while stocks last.

To recap on the specs, the MatePad Pro 5G comes with a 10.8″ QuadHD+ IPS display that pushes a resolution of 2560×1600 pixels. It runs on a Kirin 990 5G platform that supports 5G connectivity in both SA and NSA architecture.

The tablet is also an impressive multimedia consumption device with its quad-speaker setup that’s tuned by Harman Kardon. It comes with a 7,250mAh battery and the 5G version supports 27W wireless charging as well as 40W SuperCharge via USB-C. A full charge is rated to deliver up to 12 hours of 1080p local video playback.

Out of the box, it runs on EMUI 10.1 that’s based on Android 10.0 but it runs on Huawei Mobile Services instead of Google Mobile Services. This means you’ll have to use Huawei’s AppGallery instead of Google PlayStore to download your applications.
