If you’ve been following SoyaCincau, you’ve probably already heard of Greenroom136. They’re a local company that makes phenomenal handmade bags that are practical and built to last. We love them and we carry them almost on the daily. Today, Greenroom136 are extending their expertise and quality craftsmanship into making reusable fabric masks!
Simply dubbed the Mask, these are premium handmade general purpose reusable face masks. The use a tri-layer design with an outer layer that’s made from 50% cotton and 50% polyester, plus an inner and pocket layer that’s 75% cotton and 25% polyester. There is also an adjustable metal nose bridge to ensure a snug fit.
I should point out that these masks do not contain filters, but the pocket layer is compatible with most respiratory filters. Greenroom136 don’t sell these filters, but you can pick them up online at Shopee and Lazada.
If you’re familiar with Greenroom136 products, you’ll know that they typically build their stuff out of the highly versatile (and durable) material called Cordura. But, these masks aren’t made from Cordura because Greenroom136 founder Patrick Lim tells me that it’s not really a breathable material.
He also tells me that he decided to make these masks because a fan had requested them. Patrick adds that they were never made to “get rich” because they’re tedious to make and cheap to sell.
Of course, one could look at the fact that these masks sell for RM100 for a pack of three and wonder in what universe is that cheap, but you should remember that these are all handmade. Each mask consists of twelve separate pieces that need to be prepared and put together by hand.
And, since they’re fabric masks, you can clean them and reuse them. Patrick recommends that these be washed with a liquid based disinfectant, soap and water after each use, then dried under the sun for proper UV disinfection. They’re also washing machine friendly.
But, at the end of the day, Patrick says that this product wasn’t designed to bring in the big bucks. He treats more like a piece of merchandise that he believes only the true fans will pick up.
“I do believe that masks will be the normal carry next to the pack of tissues,” says Patrick, and I have to agree with him. At least, for the foreseeable future. So, if it’s as much of a must-have accessory as a cap or a pair of shades, why not use it to represent the brands and causes you want to support?
It’s clearly working because in just three hours, the first batch of these novelty masks have completely sold out. But, if you’re looking to pick one up for yourself, don’t worry because Patrick tells me a new batch will be dropping next week so you’re going to want to follow Greenroom136 on Facebook for updates on that.
Besides the mask, Greenroom136 also just launched a brand new messenger backpack called the Metrorunner. As part of their small urban everyday carry (EDC) line, the Metrorunner is a small single strap messenger that’s designed for the busy urbanite.
It’s the smallest bag in the Metro range, sliding in just below the Metromonger and Metrodrifter. Build consists of a 1000 denier Cordura outer shell with a polyurethane coating as well as a 420 denier ripstop internal shell with a polyurethane coating. It has a depth of six litres and a measurement of 33cm x 15cm x 10cm.
Metrorunner is currently retailing for RM280, and will come in two variants, the Metrorunner and Metrorunner Tactical. Both variants come in six different colourways. Shipping is expected to start in early July.
That being said, the Metrorunners are not available in the W?ldcard Custom Builder, but you can opt to add accessories like their Random Knick Knacks, paracord zip ties, and a chest belt.
Should you want to customise some of Greenroom136’s other bags, they are having a W?ldcard Custom promotion until the 21st of June 2020 (11:59pm) where you can get 15% off your custom bag if you enter the code CUSTOM15 at checkout.
