The Dyson V8 Slim is the iPhone SE of Dyson cordless vacuums

The Dyson V8 Slim is officially announced for the Malaysian market. Just like the latest iPhone SE, Dyson has taken its old V8 vacuum cleaner from several years ago, made some upgrades and sell it for under RM2,000. According to the British brand, this is their lightest cord-free vacuum that offers no compromise in performance.

At first glance, it looks like a normal Dyson V8 vacuum cleaner but they have reengineered the Fluffy cleaner head to be 40% smaller and 40% lighter while retaining the same performance of a V8 Fluffy vacuum. Dyson has used aircraft-grade 6061 aluminium to reduce the brush bar’s diameter by 29% to give it a thinner yet stronger wall. In addition, they have also stitched the carbon fibre filament and felt together to reduce the weight further compared to its previous model that used glue and plastic parts to hold the fabrics together. The wand is also shorter by 102mm.

Overall, the Dyson V8 Slim Fluffy weighs 2.15kg while older the Dyson V8 Fluffy weighs 2.6kg. Meanwhile, the top of the line Dyson V11 series weighs 2.97kg.

Dyson has also smoothened out sharp corners within the head to create a more direct and even route for the airflow from the floor to the cleaner head. This ensures better edge cleaning performance so that it won’t leave any dust behind with just one pass.

The V8 Slim is still powered by the same Dyson digital motor V8 that spins up to 107,000rpm. It also has the same 2-Tier Radical cyclones technology that generates centrifugal force to direct fine dust into the bin.

The back of the vacuum cleaner is an advanced filtration system that claims to capture 99.97% of microscopic dirt as small as 0.3 microns. To empty the bin, just pull up the lever and the bottom lid opens to remove trapped dust and debris in a single action.

On a full charge, the Dyson V8 Slim can last up to 40 minutes in medium mode without a motorised tool or up to 30 minutes with a motorised tool. On a boosted mode, it can last up to 7 minutes in a single charge. A full charge takes 5 hours.

In Malaysia, the V8 Slim is only available in a single Fluffy+ option that comes with 1 cleaner head and 5 tool attachments. This includes the Slim soft roller cleaner head, a combination tool, light-pipe crevice tool (as shown above), a mini motorised head, mini soft dusting brush and a mattress tool.

The V8 Slim Fluffy+ is officially priced in Malaysia at RM1,799. It is available at the Dyson Demo Store at The Gardens Mall and MidValley Southkey, as well as major department and electrical stores in Malaysia. If you prefer to buy online, it’s available at dyson.my as well as Lazada Malaysia.

Meanwhile, the non-Slim V8 Fluffy is currently priced at RM1,999. Dyson is now offering an additional quick-release mini motorised tool worth RM199 for free as part of its current promo which ends on 17th June or while stocks last. The Dyson V8 Fluffy is also bundled with a Quick Release Up-Top adapter which allows you to clean hard to reach places.
