Now could be the best time to buy a PlayStation 4

This post is brought to you by PlayStation Asia.

It’s a common adage that one decides on which gaming console to purchase by looking at the games and the exclusives available to that console. That’s probably a prudent move because while there will inevitably be differences between console experiences, the biggest variance in your gaming experience will ultimately be down to the game you’re playing.

And if we’re talking about incredible exclusives, it may be quite difficult to dispute the PlayStation® 4’s claim to the throne. Launched in 2013, the console has seen a lot of truly stellar games grace its hard drive. But, arguably, the PlayStation 4’s biggest strength lies in its complex story-driven games that seamlessly bridge the gap between narrative and gameplay.

Take the instant classics like Naughty Dog’s Last of Us and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, for example. Although linear, these titles tell well-written engaging stories from two completely different perspectives with beautifully fleshed out characters and refreshing takes on conventional genres.

On top of that, Uncharted 4 brings some of the most fun cover-shooter gameplay with the inclusion of the grappling hook. Seriously, more games need a grappling hook.

Then, there are titles like God of War whose single unbroken camera perspective tells an engaging story of character growth backed by a soaring soundtrack combined with some of the best action combat we’ve seen in a long while.

Powers feel impactful, mistakes can be costly, and bosses are unforgiving. Combine all of that and every hard-fought victory feels earned. After all, there are few more satisfying moments in the game than finally tearing the wings of Sigurn after your hundredth try.

Oh, and who could forget Insomniac’s awesome take on everyone’s friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man with their 2018 game that truly embodies the term making you “feel like Spider-Man”.

It is with exclusives like these that really cement the PlayStation 4 as the console of its generation. And we’d be willing to bet that even staunch non-console gamer would have been tempted at some point in the PS4’s lifespan.

Well, the good news is that now could be one of the best times to pick up a brand new PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 4 Pro. Now that you have seen almost the entirety of the console’s catalogue of games, it becomes really easy to judge whether this is something worth getting into.

Plus, with the next generation of consoles on the horizon, the opportunities to pick one up at an incredibly affordable price are abundant. In fact, PlayStation Asia are offering a number of special promotions in conjunction with their annual Days of Play celebration that will take place from the 3rd to the 16th of June 2020.

PlayStation Asia will be offering big discounts on two bundles during this promotional period. With the Mega Pack 2, you can get the PlayStation 4 (1TB) with one “DUALSHOCK 4″ Wireless Controller, Grand Theft Auto V, Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War, Fortnite Neo Versa DLC Content, and a three-month PlayStation Plus subscription for just RM1,099—RM250 off the original price.

If you want a more powerful console, you can opt for the PlayStation 4 Pro which includes the 1TB console, two “DUALSHOCK 4″ Wireless Controllers, a copy of God of War and a copy of The Last of Us Remastered for just RM1,399, a whopping RM400 off the RRP.

But, this promo period isn’t just good for people who are looking to pick up a PlayStation 4, PlayStation Asia’s also got goodies for existing PlayStation 4 owners who have been eyeing some of these new game releases. And by goodies, we mean that you’ll be able to pick titles like Uncharted 4, The Last of Us Remastered, God of War, and Ratchet & Clank from their PlayStation Hits titles for just RM55.

Besides that, Marvel’s Spider-Man Game of the Year edition, Dreams Universe and Days Gone will be on sale for RM119, while titles like Death Stranding and Nioh 2 will be on sale for RM169 with Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice discounted to RM145 as well.

Need an extra “DUALSHOCK 4″ Wireless Controller? PlayStation Asia will be dropping the price of that too! Now, you can pick one up for RM179, and it’s valid for all non-limited edition colours. In fact, even the PlayStation Plus 12-month membership will now come with an additional four months if you purchase and redeem it by the 16th of June 2020.

In case you didn’t already know what PlayStation Plus is, it’s an online subscription service that allows players to play online with each other. On top of that, you’re also getting two free games each month which you can keep, as long as you remain subscribed.

This, then, is truly the Best Time to Play, whether you’re already a PlayStation 4 owner, or if you’ve been eyeing one for a while now. The games are fantastic, the system is reliable, and you’ve also got a couple of stunning titles to look forward to, on top of the already established catalogue of titles.
