Celcom to challenge Hotlink with its own Xpax unlimited pass?

[ UPDATE 9/06/2020 12:40 ]: Celcom unveils its new True Unlimited Prepaid pass. More details here.

===

It appears that Celcom’s prepaid brand Xpax is challenging Hotlink with its own unlimited internet pass that starts from RM35 per month. Similar to U Mobile Giler Unlimited prepaid offering, the pass offers unlimited internet with a 3Mbps speed cap and it still comes with 3GB of data for hotspot.

As spotted by Xavier Naxa, the new Xpax monthly unlimited passes have appeared on the self-care app. It costs RM35 for monthly and RM12 for the weekly pass. For the RM35 monthly pass, the plan even comes with unlimited calls to all network as a bonus plus 3GB of hotspot data which is also speed capped at 3Mbps.

Current Xpax 48GB for RM38 prepaid internet pass

From the looks of it, this looks like a revamp of their 48GB for RM38/month pass that was introduced in January 2020. You now get “unlimited” quota, unlimited calls and it’s now RM3 cheaper each month. If you need uncapped speeds, it is likely that you have to purchase an ultra hour pass. For those that need to use more than 3GB for hotspot, you can buy additional quota separately.

At the time of writing, the new passes are nowhere to be seen on Celcom’s website and we expect Celcom to publish more details soon. We can’t wait to find out more details of its Fair Usage Policy.
