Malaysian custom laptop builders Illegear have recently refreshed their Rogue and Onxy V series of laptops by outfitting them with the latest AMD Ryzen 4000 series processors. Designed for productivity, gaming and content creation, AMD’s new processors pack more power in lightweight laptops.
If the Illegear Rogue and Onxy V look familiar it is because the two laptops were actually introduced last year. The latest refresh does not change the external design of the laptops but it is what is inside that counts.
The option is open to gamers to choose between an AMD Ryzen 5 4600H processor or AMD Ryzen 7 4800H processor on their Rogue or Onxy V laptop. One of the key features of the new processors is the inclusion of AMD Radeon integrated graphics. It promises to give a boost for content creators that need to edit photos or videos as well as streaming video content in 4K resolution and HDR.
The Onyx V is configurable with a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650, GTX 1650Ti or RTX 2060 discrete GPUs. The Rogue on the other hand gets either a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650Ti or RTX 2060. In addition, they opt to fit up to 64GB Dual Channel DDR4 3200Mhz RAM.
Despite their differences the two mid-range laptops share some common traits. They both run on Windows 10 (64-bit), feature a tactile keyboard with single-zone RGB , have THX Spatial Audio speakers and run on a 47Wh battery.
The sleek and lightweight, the Onyx V is outfitted with a 15.6″ Full HD 120Hz IPS display. Illegear’s Infinivision narrow-bezels allows the Onyx to offer a more immersive mobile gaming experience. Music, games and video come alive with 360-degree audio with the help of Two 2 Watt amplified built-in speakers that are tuned by THX Spatial Audio.
This high-end gaming laptop that boasts a premium anodised aluminium body. Not only is it sleek to the touch but it is also durable and lightweight, weighing only 1.85kg. To keep the laptop cool even in the heat of an online battle, the Onyx comes equipped with high-performance thermal components. The four heatpipes, four vents and dual fans inside is said to facilitate cooling with great all-round airflow.
In terms of ports you get a USB-C port for quicker data transfers along with two USB 3.1 ports and another USB 2.1 port. Expand your gaming vision with up to two external displays with the Onyx V’s two Mini Displayports and HDMI 2.0 port. The has two M.2 PCIe SSD slots with each slot capable of taking up to 2TB of storage.
The larger one of the two, the Rogue is a beast of a laptop. It features a massive 17.3″ Full HD 120Hz IPS display. Like the Onyx, it has Illegear’s Infinivision narrow-bezels that packs in the massive display into the body of a regular 15.6″ laptop. Unlike the Onyx V, the Rogue is constructed of hard plastic and has a matte black coating. Despite its massive size the Rogue only weighs 2.45kg.
You won’t have to worry about overheating the Rogue as it comes with five heat pipes, quad-vents and dual-fans to dissipate heat quietly. Experience the action as it happens around you with with the built-in two amplified speakers that are enhanced by THX Spatial audio.

Featuring two M.s PCIe SSD slots and a single 2.5″SSD/HDD slot, gamers can expand the storage up to a whopping 6TB. That certainly is more than enough to store all your games, photos and videos.
