COVID-19: 103 new cases today, 84 are non-Malaysians

The Ministry of Health has recorded 103 new cases today, which is a significant jump after two straight days of recording less than 20 new cases. This brings the total number of positive cases to 7,732.

Fortunately, there are no new deaths recorded and the death toll has remained at 115 for a full week. There are 66 new recoveries today and a total of 6,235 patients that have recovered and discharged.

The recovery rate is currently 80.64% while the mortality rate is at 1.49%.

At the moment, there are still 1,382 active cases remaining. There are 8 patients in ICU while 2 require respiratory support.

Out of the 103 new cases today there are 7 imported cases. From the imported infections, 4 came from Egypt, 2 from Saudi Arabia and one from Australia. Among the 96 local transmitted cases, 84 are foreigners while 12 are Malaysians.

There are 54 new cases from the Pedas cluster and 24 new cases from a cleaning company cluster at Kuala Langat and Seremban. Meanwhile, there are 3 new cases at Pudu and 1 from Madrasah Sungai Salan.

According to the Ministry, a total of 31,603 foreigners have been tested for COVID-19 and a total of 1,863 samples have returned positive. Meanwhile, 29,099 test results have returned negative while 2 are still pending results.

At the moment, there are 4 red zones remaining which include Kuala Langat, Lembah Pantai, Cheras and Rembau. The states of Perak, Pulau Pinang, Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu and Labuan are fully green.
