The number of new daily COVID-19 cases have increased to 47 today and this brings the total number of cases in Malaysia to 6,941. There are no new deaths recorded today and the death toll remains at 113.
There are 44 new recoveries today, and a total of 5,615 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate currently stands at 80.90% while the mortality rate is 1.63%.
At the moment, there are still 1,213 active cases remaining which are still receiving treatment. 13 are in ICU while 6 cases require respiratory support.
Out of the 47 cases reported today, 21 are imported while 26 are transmitted locally. 17 cases are non-Malaysians.
There are a total of 38 cases (including 20 imported) in Kuala Lumpur, followed by 8 in Selangor. There’s one case recorded in Putrajaya which is an imported case.
The ministry has updated that the Pudu cluster had recorded 17 new cases and 16 are non-Malaysians. This brings the total number of cases at the Pudu cluster to 50.
According to the Ministry of Health, Malaysia has conducted over 452,383 COVID-19 tests so far and the positive rate is currently 1.53%. In the past 5 days, the ministry has conducted over 23,000 tests daily and yesterday alone they did 25,621 tests which are a new record high.
Malaysia has been recording double-digit daily figures for 15 consecutive days. However, the number of recoveries is lower than the number of new cases today. It has been exactly 15 days since the Conditional Movement Control Order was introduced. Selected businesses have been permitted to reopen as long as they comply with the necessary SOP.
