Latest fuel price: RON95 and RON97 up by 6 sen

After more than 2 months of affordable fuel prices, the Malaysian government has announced a price increase across the board of up to 6 sen per litre for the coming week. This is the first increase since the end of February.

Below are the fuel prices for the period between 16th to 22nd May 2020.

RON95 – RM1.31/litre (+6 sen)

RON97 – RM1.61/litre (+6 sen)

Diesel – RM1.45/litre (+5 sen)

Diesel (Euro 5) – RM1.55/litre (+5 sen)

The price for RON95 and RON97 petrol has increased by 6 sen while diesel is up by 5 sen. Prior to this, the price of petrol has remained at RM1.25/litre for RON95 and RM1.55/litre for RON97 for 5 straight weeks.

There are now more commuters on the road as most economic sectors have reopened under the conditional movement control order. Interstate travel is still not permitted, however, the 10km radius limit for essential trips to buy groceries and necessities has been lifted. Meanwhile, up to 4 family members can travel in one car but it is still advisable not to bring children and the elderly to public spaces to reduce exposure.
