Gerak Malaysia: Eateries and suraus will not be open at PLUS R&R

Stranded Malaysians at their respective hometowns will soon be making their way home between 7th to 10th of May. Interstate travel will be permitted after an application is made via the Gerak Malaysia app. According to highway concessionaire PLUS Malaysia, they are expecting 300,000 cars on the road including its highways during the four day travel period.

As announced by the police, those intending to travel must be approved with a QR code on Gerak Malaysia. If you’re travelling with your family, all members aged 16 and above must register via the app. For those who can’t use Gerak Malaysia, you can also apply via a manual form at the nearest police station. A phone appointment must be made before visiting the station to avoid overcrowding.

Interstate travellers will be permitted to travel on the following dates:

7th May – From Kuala Lumpur

8th May – From Perak, Johor and Kelantan

9th May – From Perlis, Kedah, Pulau Pinang, Melaka and Pahang

10th May – From Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Terengganu

PLUS has implemented several SOPs in accordance with the National Security Council (NSC) and the Ministry of Health since the 1st phase of the MCO. To ensure social distancing is practised, all-cash transactions with Customer Service Assistants are prohibited.

Ensure sufficient TNG Card balance

All highway users are urged to top up their Touch ‘n Go cards with sufficient balance before entering the highways. You may top up at petrol stations, self-service kiosks, convenience stores and at ATM machines. You can find a list of top-up locations with zero fee here.

Limited services at R&R

Do note that all eateries and prayer rooms are closed at all R&R stops along the highway. For those who are not fasting, you are advised to bring your own meals and refreshments for the journey. Only the washrooms are available and everyone is advised to practice social distancing at all times.

Road users may take a break at the car park but they are not allowed to leave the vehicle unless they are going to the washroom. Any forms of gathering or loitering at R&R stops are strictly prohibited.

Petrol stations along the highway will only operate between 6.00am to 12.00am (midnight). PLUSRonda highway patrol units are still operational 24/7.

Before starting your journey, PLUS advises all users to use Waze or Google Maps to take note of any congestion on the way. Road users are advised to take note of traffic instructions from electronic signages along the highway.
