Oppo Reno 3 Pro is coming to Malaysia but it’s not the one we expect

The Oppo Reno 3 series is finally coming to our shores very soon. Oppo Malaysia has just dropped its first teaser for the Oppo Reno 3 Pro which promises to offer improved photography experience. This is their premium mid-range offering that sits right below the Oppo Find X2.

The smartphone maker hasn’t revealed much info other than the fact that it’s coming to Malaysia very soon. If we look at the teaser, the Reno 3 Pro that’s coming will come with a quad-camera setup at the rear and the display has a wide punch-hole for two selfie cameras.

This matches the Oppo Reno 3 Pro that was launched in India and it’s different from the version that was released in China that supports 5G.

To recap, the device for the Indian market features a 6.4″ Full HD+ Super AMOLED display without the 90Hz refresh rate that’s offered with the Chinese version. Instead of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G unit, it runs on a MediaTek Helio P95 processor. In India, the device is offered with 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 2.1 storage.

In the camera department, the Oppo Reno 3 Pro has quite a versatile quad-camera offering. It has a 64MP main camera, a 13MP telephoto lens that offers 5x hybrid zoom with up to 20x digital zoom, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 2MP mono lens. It also gets Ultra Steady Video 2.0 for video recording and an ultra-resolution mode which lets you capture images at 108MP resolution.

For selfies, the front gets a 44MP main camera and a secondary 2MP shooter for depth effects. Powering the device is a 4,025mAh battery that supports 30W VOOC 4.0 fast-charging via USB-C.

Although it’s not the same as the Reno 3 Pro 5G in China, this MediaTek variant is expected to carry a low price tag. In India, the Reno 3 Pro 128GB version is priced at INR 29,990 (about RM1,700) while the 256GB option is priced at INR 32,990 (about RM1,876). Based on the Oppo Reno 2‘s pricing in Malaysia, we are guessing that the new model could be priced around RM1,999 to RM2,299.
