Senior Minister: 10km radius limit withdrawn during CMCO

Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has mentioned today that the 10km radius limit no longer applies during the conditional movement control order (CMCO) which starts today. However, he stressed that interstate travel is still restricted during the CMCO.

He was responding to a question on whether interstate travel is permitted and if travels are still limited to a radius of 10km. Prior to this, individuals are only allowed to travel to buy essentials within 10km and only 1 person is permitted per vehicle. Eventually, the government has eased restrictions by allowing two members of the family to go out and they may travel beyond 10km if the nearest premise that provides the required necessities are located beyond 10km.

As selected businesses are now allowed to reopen with stringent SOP during the CMCO, the government is now allowing up to 4 family members per vehicle. It is worth pointing out that not all eateries will be open for dine-in customers and several state governments have opted not to reopen businesses today.

Interstate travel only for those stuck at hometowns

For those who are stuck at their respective hometowns in various states, the government is allowing a one-time interstate trip between 7th to 10th of May. Those intended to do so must apply via Gerak Malaysia. The Royal Malaysia Police has already provided a schedule which allocates specific dates depending on location. You can learn more about requesting for interstate travel here.

For those who can’t use Gerak Malaysia, they may submit a manual form to their nearest police station, however, they must make a phone appointment first to avoid overcrowding. As highlighted by the Senior Minister, this one-time exemption is only for those who are stuck in their hometowns. Balik kampung is strictly not allowed.
