According to the latest update by the Minister of Health, the number of green zones in Malaysia has increased to 92 as the number of active COVID-19 cases are gradually decreasing. At the moment, only 8 districts are categorised as red zones.

Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan and Perak are fully green but the Ministry says they are not completely free from COVID-19. Selangor which has the highest number of cumulative COVID-19 cases currently has Hulu Langat as the only red zone district. There are currently 57 districts that are categorised as yellow zones.

Below is the full list of red zones and its number of active cases:

Titiwangsa – 55

Selangor
Hulu Langat – 62

Johor

Kluang – 77

Sarawak

The zone status is determined based on the number of active cases. Green zones are designated for areas with 0 active COVID-19 cases and Yellow zones are labelled for areas with 40 or fewer cases. Meanwhile, Red zones are categories for areas with over 40 active cases.

The Ministry of Health continues to remind the public to comply with the movement control order as we are not out of the woods yet. As of yesterday, there are a total of 6,002 COVID-19 cases in the country with 1,729 cases still receiving treatment.

Malaysia has recorded less than 100 daily cases for 14 days straight and the recovery rate is currently 69.49%. The current movement control order (MCO) is scheduled to end on 12th May but the government has announced a conditional MCO which will take effect starting this coming Monday, the 4th of May.

Several businesses will be allowed to open with set conditions and this includes restaurants which will be permitted to accept dine-in customers. Meanwhile, selected outdoor activities will be allowed such as jogging, cycling and badminton.
