Redmi Note 9 Pro
4GB RAM + 64GB storage – USD 269 (about RM1,156)

According to Xiaomi, both devices will be available in mid-May 2020. Local Malaysian pricing will be revealed at a later time.

Redmi Note 9

For those that prefer a smaller device, the Redmi Note 9 comes with a 6.53″ Full HD+ IPS display and it runs on a MediaTek Helio G85 processor. According to Xiaomi, the Helio G85 is optimised for everyday gamers and it offers better performance up to 21% more than last year’s Snapdragon 665 powered Redmi Note 8. The device can be configured with up to 4GB RAM and 128GB of storage. If you need more storage, you can expand further via a microSD card.

In the camera department, it also gets a quad-camera setup that’s arranged in a 2×2 array. It consists of a 48MP f/1.79 main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2MP macro camera and a 2MP depth sensor. For selfies, it comes with an in-display 13MP front camera that’s placed on the top left corner.

Although this is a smaller device, it still packs a huge 5,020mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging via USB-C. Like the Redmi Note 9S, it comes bundled with a 22.5W fast charger.

The Redmi Note 9 also retains a 3.5mm headphone jack and an infrared blaster. Unlike the larger Pro model, the fingerprint sensor is mounted on the rear. For selected markets, the device will come with NFC support.

Redmi Note 9 Pro

The Redmi Note 9 Pro is identical to the Redmi Note 9S and it comes with a couple of upgrades. On the exterior, the biggest difference is the Tropical Green colour option that comes with a dual-tone look. It has a 6.67″ Full HD+ display with a centre-aligned punch-hole and it runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor. The device can be configured with up to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage which is also expandable.

The Redmi Note 9 Pro still gets a quad-camera array at the rear but it gets a higher-resolution 64MP f/1.89 main camera that uses a larger 1/.72″ image sensor. It also gets an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a 5MP macro camera and a 2MP depth sensor for bokeh effects. Interestingly, the front still retains a 16MP selfie camera like the Redmi Note 9S.

The Redmi Note 9 Pro retains a huge 5,020mAh battery and it supports 30W fast charging via USB-C. According to Xiaomi, you can get up to 50% charge in 30 minutes. Interestingly, Xiaomi is bundling a higher-rated 33W power adapter out of the box.

The Redmi Note 9 Pro also supports NFC and it still comes with a headphone jack and an infrared blaster. Below is a quick comparison of the current Redmi Note 9 series.
