If the Snapdragon 865-powered Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro are out of your budget, Xiaomi has announced the Mi 10 “Youth Edition” in China. The device was initially teased as the Mi 10 Lite during the global launch event but the Chinese version appears to come with a couple of extras.

The Mi 10 Youth edition comes with a slightly smaller 6.57″ Samsung AMOLED panel that pushes a Full HD+ resolution. There’s no 90Hz refresh rate but it has a 180Hz sampling rate for quick touch response and an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Under the hood, the device runs on a Snapdragon 765G processor that comes with a 5G modem that supports both SA and NSA networks. The device is configured with either 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and with either 64GB, 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.1 storage.

In the imaging department, the rear gets a quad-camera setup that’s arranged in a 2×2 array. It has a 48MP f/1.79 main camera with a 1/2.0″ sensor, an 8MP periscope telephoto lens with OIS that offers 5x optical zoom, 10x hybrid zoom and 50x digital zoom.

Also included is an 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera and a dedicated macro lens that allows you to get up close between 2 – 10cm distance. When it comes to video, it supports up to 4K at 30fps and it also supports 960fps slow-mo up to 720p. For selfies, the device has a 16MP front camera that sits on a tiny notch.

The Mi 10 Youth Edition comes with a decent-sized 4,160mAh battery that supports QuickCharge 4+ and PD3.0 fast charging via USB-C. The device is offered with a 22.5W fast charger as standard. On top of the device, it still has a 3.5mm headphone jack as well as an infrared blaster.

Below is the official pricing for the Mi 10 Youth Edition in China:

6GB RAM + 64GB storage – CNY 2,099 (about RM1,295)
6GB RAM + 128GB storage – CNY 2,299 (about RM1,418)
8GB RAM + 128GB storage – CNY 2,499 (about RM1,542)
8GB RAM + 256GB storage – CNY 2,799 (about RM1,726)

At CNY 2,799 for the top-spec model, the Mi 10 Youth is almost half the price of the equivalent variant for the Mi 10 Pro which is currently priced at CNY 4,999 (about RM3,083) for 8GB RAM + 256GB storage.

In case you missed it, the Mi 10 is officially priced in Malaysia from RM2,799 while the Mi 10 Pro is going for RM3,899. More details here.
