Samsung’s new cordless vacuum is almost half the price of a Dyson V11

Samsung may not be the brand that pops right into your mind when it comes to a vacuum cleaner, but their new lineup of the Samsung Jet cordless stick vacuum cleaner might be a different story. 

Similar to Dyson’s cordless vacuums, the Jet 70 Easy also has a powerful suction power and a spin brush that can clean various surfaces from hardwood to carpet. 

The Jet 70 Easy is powered by a Digital Inverter Motor that is paired with a highly efficient impeller and ultrasonic welded airfoil blades that promises to offer strong suction power of up to 150W.

It can also trap fine dust particles which is made possible by nine separate cyclones. Each cyclone comes with a 3-way multi-air inlet to help reduce the loss of suction power while trapping fine dust particles. 

The Jet Vacuum also has a five-layer HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filtration system that traps fine dust particles to prevent them from dispersing out in the air again. How it works is that the main cyclone and metal grille filter will separate and trap large dust particles. Then, the Jet Cyclone removes fine dust particles while the micro filter traps all the remaining fine dust, which you can wash it once you are done cleaning.

At the end of the process, there’s an ultra-fine dust filter which Samsung claims that it can capture 99.999% of dust from releasing out to the air. This filtration system might be useful for those who are sensitive to dust and have allergies since Samsung claims that it provides cleaner indoor air environment.

On a single charge, the Jet 70 can give you up to 40 minutes of cleaning time, which is probably sufficient for most people to clean the entire house. According to Samsung, the battery will retain 70% of its original performance after 500 cycles. But to fully charge this vacuum, it will take 210 minutes (3.5 hours), which is acceptable considering the fact that you do not use it all the time. As a comparison, it takes about 4.5 hours to fully charge the Dyson V11. And to avoid misplacing your vacuum, there is also a 2-in-1 charger where you can charge and store your vacuum at the same time. 

But what’s interesting about Samsung’s new vacuum is that it can be paired with a compatible Clean Station which gives you contactless disposal of vacuum dust.

To achieve this, all you have to do is to detach and place the dustbin on top of the Clean Station and it will automatically empty your bin. This is made possible by Samsung’s Air Pulse technology, where it repeatedly opens and closes the inlet of the suction motor. It will create pulsating air currents that removes the dust off the bin effectively. Pretty neat huh?

The Samsung Jet Cordless Stick Vacuum 70 Easy is officially priced at RM1,699 but at the time that this article was written, it’s currently on sale for RM1,439. The Clean Station, on the other hand, can be yours for RM699.

For that price, I think that the Jet 70 Easy is a pretty good deal considering that it has a lot of the important features that you will expect from an upmarket cordless vacuum cleaner: for instance, the Dyson V11 Fluffy. However, the Dyson has a retail price of RM2,899 which is almost double the price of the Samsung Jet 70 Easy.

Both of them are cordless vacuums, they have HEPA filtration system and most importantly, they both suck…dust. But that’s not to say that the Dyson V11 Fluffy is bad. As a matter of fact, I love Dyson’s cordless vacuums. The only thing that stops me from buying them is the price.

Other than the price, the Dyson V11 Fluffy is a pretty amazing vacuum actually. It has up to 60 minutes of vacuum time (20 minutes longer than the Jet 70 Easy), a more powerful motor at 185AW and the best part about Dyson vacuums is that it comes with a bunch of different accessories.

Similar to the Jet 70 Easy, the V11 Fluffy also comes with a soft roller head, a combination tool and a crevice tool. But the V11 Fluffy gets 2 extra heads and that includes the mini motorised tool and the mini soft brush.

Perhaps a closer competitor to the Dyson V11, then would be Samsung’s higher-end Jet 90 Premium which boasts suction power of up to 200W, a battery life of up to 60 minutes, includes 3 heads and 4 accessories as well as a price tag of RM3,599—not too far off the Dyson V11’s Absolute and Absolute+ kit level.

But if you are looking for a budget cordless vacuum, the Samsung Jet 70 Easy might just be an alternative that is worth considering. The closest thing in Dyson’s lineup to the Jet 70 Easy would be the older Dyson V8 Fluffy, but even that is priced at RM1,999 and has a similar run time of 40 minutes but less suction power at 115AW.
