Government to distribute free face masks to all Malaysians

A total of 24.62 million face masks are in the process of being distributed by the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) to the respective Malaysia Nasional Security Council (MKN) in the respective states for further distribution.

He added that each Malaysian household will receive four face masks nationwide. As recommended by the Ministry of Health, it should be worn by those that have flu-like symptoms.

In Peninsular Malaysia, he added that the masks have already reached districts and it will be distributed by frontline workers to those in need. For East Malaysia, the masks will be flown to Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan via the Royal Malaysian Air Force (TUDM) this Friday.

The Senior Minister also clarified that these masks are purchased by the government and they are not donated by any parties. According to MalayMail’s report, the Prime Minister had earlier announced that face masks will be distributed to Malaysians for free and are paid for by the government. They are different from the 10 million face masks that are currently being shipped from China and these will be reserved for Health Ministry frontliners.
