Users with insufficient TNG card balance cause delay for essential goods vehicles

PLUS Malaysia Berhad advises Penangites to continue to remain at home during the Movement Control Order (MCO), and to only travel when it is necessary. This advice needed to be reminded after the daily number of vehicles with insufficient Touch ‘n Go card balance at the Penang Bridge’s toll plaza is over 780, and the cash transaction lane poses a risk of exposure as social distancing is not adhered to.

This also results to the congestion of the multi-class lane towards the Penang Bridge, and it further delays heavy vehicles from transporting essential goods to the island.

Although topping up at other locations other than the toll plaza might be more of a hassle, the move by PLUS to halt the reload service at the toll lane throughout the MCO is intended to minimise the risk of spreading the Covid-19 virus.

PLUS Chief Operating Officer, Zakaria Ahmad Zabidi mentions ensuring that your Touch ‘n Go card has sufficient balance for toll transactions, as it will eliminate the need to physically interact with PLUS Customer Service Assistants.

You can visit this site for a list of zero-fee Touch ‘n Go card top up locations.

“Above all, the best moves to curb the spread of Covid-19 are to stay home and practise social distancing,” said Zakaria.
