S’gor Police: Bring your utility bill when you go out during MCO

In the second phase of the Movement Control order, Malaysians including foreign residents in the country are now restricted to travel only within a 10km radius from their home address. To ensure this rule is enforced, the Selangor Integrity and Standards Compliance Department chief ACP Mohd Ismail Muslim is asking Selangor residence to produce a utility bill that can prove their current home address.

Speaking to reporters, he said that residents should keep any of their utility bill in their vehicle. If the police ask where are you heading, you can tell them that you’re going home or out to buy daily necessities while showing them the bill.

He added that the 10km requirement has been set under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2020. For those that require to travel to fulfil their duties under essential services, they must also produce a written authorisation letter from their employers.

To enforce the MCO, the Selangor police will be setting up more roadblocks and close more roads from time to time especially entry and exit points of highways to reduce interstate travel. The Selangor police also shared that 42 offers have been placed under self-quarantine, however, no positive COVID-19 case has been reported so far.
