[UPDATED] Huawei’s answer to the iPad Pro has arrived in Malaysia

[ UPDATE 3/04/2020 13:00 ] The Huawei MatePad Pro for the Malaysian market has no 4G LTE, this is the WiFi-only model. Huawei has sent us the wrong spec-sheet for the Malaysian spec.

Apart from the P40 series, Huawei Malaysia has also announced the arrival of its MatePad Pro tablet. This is Huawei’s answer to the iPad Pro and you can get it with the smart keyboard and pencil stylus for free. However, the model that’s offered in our market does not come with 5G support.

The Huawei MatePad Pro in Malaysia is officially priced at RM2,399. This is the 4G LTE + WiFi model that comes with 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage.

Similar to the Huawei P40 series, the tablet is available for pre-order starting tomorrow, 3rd April until the 10th of April 2020 at the Huawei online store. It is available in two colours – Pearl White and Grey.

During the pre-order period, the MatePad Pro is bundled with RM1,000 worth of freebies. This includes a smart magnetic keyboard (worth RM499), an M-Pencil (worth RM299) and 3 months free subscription to Huawei Video.

Huawei MatePad Pro specs

To recap on the specs, the Huawei MatePad Pro features a 10.8″ IPS display that pushes a 2560×1600 pixels resolution. The screen also features a punch-hole that houses an 8MP autofocus camera. The flagship tablet runs on a Kirin 990 processor with 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage. If you need more storage, you can expand further by adding a proprietary NMcard.

As a multimedia consumption device, it comes with four speakers that are tuned by Harmon Kardon. There’s also five microphones that offer noise reduction and a 13MP camera at the back.

Powering the tablet is a 7,250mAh battery that supports 20W fast charging via USB-C. It is also Huawei’s first tablet to support 15W wireless charging as well as 7.5W reverse wireless charging. Out of the box, the device is shipped with Huawei Mobile Services and that means you’ll have to discover and download apps via the AppGallery.
