Honor 9X Pro and MagicBook Malaysian launch happening on 7th April

Honor Malaysia has revealed a new launch date for its latest smartphone, laptop and wearable. The event was supposed to take place a few weeks ago but it was postponed. The Honor 9X, Honor MagicBook and its new MagicWatch 2 42mm (Sakura Gold) will be announced locally via a live stream next week.

According to Honor, the event is happening at 12pm (Malaysian Time) on Tuesday, 7th April 2020. You can catch the event live on YouTube as well as Facebook.

Here’s a recap of what they are launching next week:

Honor MagicBook 14

The MagicBook 14 is Honor’s first laptop to be released for the Malaysian market. It features a 14″ Full HD display and it is powered by an AMD Ryzen 5 3500U with Radeon Vega 8 Graphics. Unlike the MagicBook which we saw in China and Europe, we are getting a different design that lacks the striking blue chamfer and pop-up webcam feature.

The MagicBook 14 for Malaysia will come with a single variant that offers 8GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD storage. In terms of connectivity, it has a USB-C port for charging and data transfer, 2x USB-A (USB 3.0 + USB 2.0), an HDMI port and a 3.5mm audio jack. The laptop also features a power button with an integrated fingerprint sensor and a quad-speaker setup that’s enhanced with Dolby Atmos. You can check out our preview post here.

Honor 9X Pro

The Honor 9X Pro is their latest mid-range offering and it is the high-spec variant of the current Honor 9X. This is also Honor Malaysia’s first device to run on Huawei Mobile Services.

The device features a 6.59″ Full HD+ display and it runs on a Kirin 810 processor. It comes with 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.1 storage. For taking pictures, the rear gets a triple-camera setup featuring a 48MP main shooter, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2MP depth sensor. The device also gets a pop-up 16MP selfie camera.

Powering the device is a 4,000mAh battery that supports 10W charging via its USB-C port. Unlike the standard Honor 9X, it doesn’t come with Google apps and services pre-loaded, and that means you’ll have to use Huawei’s AppGallery instead of the Google PlayStore for your applications.

Honor MagicWatch 2 new variant

Last but not least, Honor is announcing a new variant of its Magic Watch 2. This appears to be a premium “Gold” version of its smaller 42mm smartwatch. Unlike the larger 46mm version, the 42mm MagicWatch 2 has a shorter 7-day battery life and it doesn’t come with built-in mic and speaker for voice calls.

The prices for all three products have not been revealed yet. To find out more, stay tuned to the live stream on next Tuesday.
