Huawei P40 series is going on sale in Malaysia very soon

The Huawei P40 series was announced last week and it appears that the latest flagships are coming to Malaysia very soon. Huawei Malaysia has sent out an email teasing its arrival and the devices are also teased on an e-commerce platform.

According to the Huawei Malaysia P40 launch page, it appears that we will be getting the P40 and the P40 Pro. The top-of-the-line P40 Pro+ that offers up to 100x zoom isn’t listed at the moment.

During the global launch, it was mentioned that the P40 and P40 Pro will be available from 7th April, while the P40 Pro+ will be released sometime in June.

In the meantime, Huawei wants to know if you’re interested in their latest flagship duo and you can get a RM30 online voucher by registering our email. However, do note that this voucher can’t use used for the Huawei P40 series, the new MatePad Pro and the new Watch GT2e.

Apart from Huawei Malaysia’s own website, Lazada has also teased that the P40 series is also coming to its platform very soon via Huawei official store on LazMall.

The Malaysian pricing isn’t revealed yet but looking at the European market, it is likely to retain a similar price tag as the P30 series during the time of launch. Below is a recap of the P30 and P40 pricing for the European market (MYR based on the exchange rate at the time of launch):

Huawei P40 Series
P40 8GB RAM + 128GB storage – EUR 799 (about RM3,831)
P40 Pro 8GB RAM + 256GB storage – EUR 999 (about RM4,790)
P40 Pro+ 8GB RAM + 512GB storage – EUR 1,399 (about RM6,708)

Huawei P30 Series
P30 6GB RAM + 128GB storage – EUR 799 (about RM3,683)
P30 Pro 8GB RAM + 128GB storage – EUR 999 (about RM4,604)
P30 Pro 8GB RAM + 256GB storage – EUR 1,099 (about RM5,065)
P30 Pro 8GB RAM + 512GB storage – EUR 1,249 (about RM5,757)

When the P30 series was launched in Malaysia, the standard P30 with 8GB RAM + 128GB storage was priced at RM2,699. The P30 Pro with 8GB RAM + 256GB storage was going for RM3,799, while the 512GB storage variant is priced at RM4,399.

The P40 and P40 Pro are also Huawei’s first P-series flagship smartphones to come with Huawei Mobile Services. This means there are no Google apps and services pre-installed, and you’ll have to rely on Huawei’s AppGallery to discover and download apps.

The P40 launch could be happening within the next couple of weeks and we reckon that it could be released alongside the new Huawei MatePad Pro tablet. You can learn more about the devices in our announcement post and you can also check out our hands-on and first impressions of the P40 Pro.
