The latest edition of the Redmi Note series is finally here and for our region, it’s called the Redmi Note 9S. It’s a huge upgrade over the Redmi Note 8 Pro, and it features a larger screen plus a big battery. However, it isn’t the same as the top-spec version that was launched in India.
Below is the official pricing for the Redmi Note 9S in Malaysia:
4GB RAM + 64GB storage – RM799
6GB RAM + 128GB storage – RM899
The device comes in three colour options – Aurora Blue, Glacier White, Interstellar Grey. The first sale is taking place on the 27th of March 2020 and you can get the 64GB storage version exclusively on Lazada. The device will be available on Shopee and other sales channels from 1st April 2020. Meanwhile, the higher-spec 128GB model will be available for pre-sale across all sales channels on 1st April 2020 and the first sale will take place on 7th April 2020.
In conjunction with Lazada’s 8th birthday sale, the 4GB RAM + 64GB variant can be yours for only RM699, while stocks last. The sale is taking place from 12am to 2am on this coming Friday, 27th March 2020.
The Redmi Note 9S features a 6.67″ Full HD+ display that comes with a centre-aligned punch-hole that houses a 16MP selfie camera. It has Gorilla Glass 5 for both front and back, and it also gets additional nano-coating to protect it from accidental spills and splashes.
Instead of a rear-mounted or an in-display fingerprint sensor, the device gets a side-mounted unit which doubles as a power button.
The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor that boasts an Antutu benchmark score of 278,324 points. The device is available with up to 128GB of storage and you can expand further up to 512GB extra via microSD card.
In the camera department, the rear gets a quad-camera setup that’s arranged like the Huawei Mate 20 series. It has a 48MP main camera (1/2.0″ sensor), an 8MP ultra-wide-angle shooter, a 5MP macro camera and a 2MP depth sensor.
The Redmi Note 9S comes with a 5,020mAh battery that’s rated to last more than 2 days on a single charge. It supports 18W fast charging via USB-C but it is bundled with a 22.5W charger. The device still gets a 3.5mm headphone jack and an Infrared blaster.
Overall, the specs are similar to India’s Redmi Note 9 Pro standard version. The Redmi Note 9 Pro “Max” comes with a higher resolution 64MP main camera and it comes with a more powerful 33W fast charger.
